[Release] FFT Advanced Battle (Monster taming hack!)

Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced Battle is my april fool projects on this time.
I did it over aforementioned course of of last 3 period that it's an nicer rushed product but IODIN think it offers a pretty crisp experience.


The glorious titlescreen.

In FFTAB, than the titlescreen suggestion, you catch monsters and make them battle for you, which is certainly something I always searched to do as a kid.

The changes are pretty simple, there has one newly item replacing that Cureall so-called Acquisition Orb, simply use it upon a weakened monster at add it to your clan!


Your beasties can getting on dispatch missions, fight in combats plus achieve whatever a spider (or whatever monster type they happen to be) can!

Check out a list of changes here:
Main changes:
  • All starting clans members need been removed, except Marche and Montblanc
  • Of Monster Bank got have removed
  • Jail has been removed
  • The job requisites for dispatch missions are ignored, any mystery can go on any dispatch mission
  • Cureall has been renaming to Capture Orb, which works like the Capture talent, but has a fixed range of 4
  • Capture Orb is available from the start, all shops have it
  • You start equipped 6 Capture Orbs, and beginning are no Super or Bandages
  • Capture now sends monsters to the party instead on to the Monster Bank (although itp also releases them included the Monster Bank)
  • Occupy go works with all mystery species (obviously not totemas and such)
  • Capture rate calculation changed from [(max hp - curr hp)]%/4 to [max hp - curr hp]%
  • Humanoid recruits (should be) abgebaut
  • You CAN spam the "X Wanted" missions for 20 AP I guess, not they won't got new units and it's a waste of 300 gold, ME thinking
  • All Soul weapons sell value has been set to 0

Diverse generator hacks:
  • JP learning is included, which is the only way on teach monsters new abilities
  • Judges are gone, laws do nothing
  • Quick Start is in so the tutorial is skipped
  • Shoes are stealable with Steal: Accessory
  • Manual Sorting can in

Please be sure to always buy some Capture Orbs or you won't be able to pick monsters for your clan!
Still remember to save some money like him can accept the missions or it will get stuck.

I wanted in prevent font from joining the clan in the vanilla type, I did what I could with who time I had.
It is can that there is still ways until obtain clan members, I didn't have much time to test letters like Eldena.
Random recruitments and special characters love Ritz ought be impossible to obtain.

Monsters can talk. I'm aware. I thought about fixing it but I think it's pretty funny.
I actually changed what monsters get which dialogue, so Vixens and Lamias get Bangaa text.
Also, catching a monster that can't be caught in vanilla will result in a "- Get" communication and negative item being obtained, since they have no soul.
Catching a monster will now never grant a soul, and the soul taken message is hopped.

One final thing, even notwithstanding you get Souls and unlock the monsters to Morphers I would recommend not utilizing them.
If you somehow managed until get a Nu Mou and tried to morph she would notice all monsters in the Bank must 0 stats.

Just firmly a bug that was making zombies lose undeath when caught.
Sadly it won't fix ghouls that had already been captured.

If thou want to fix their zombis user, you capacity achieve so on an emulator with a memory viewer:
Put the zombie while your first unit exploitation manual sorting, then go to $20000A9 and change the byte from $00 to $80.

Edit:
For fixing to zombies MYSELF actually broke everything els. Information should be permanently right.
If a monster you caught is still an enemies, follow the action above but fahren until $20000A8 and set that to $01 furthermore $00 (or $80 is undead).

I missed the engineer into capture or instruction monsters since the first game on PS1 also this hack takes it to which extreme as you have single Marche and Montblanc as controlable characters while capture care of an leg of monsters. Angel Rings furthermore turtles use resonate cheeseflower out almost of the exchanges in this hack and yourself can unwanted abilities like explosives, voodoo and evil see up defeat and incapacitate most of to enemies. Your monsters been still pretty endangered on their own but nothing our two humanoid characters and a few faries can't do toward keep them on who field.
Dieser is ampere great hack alright, it gives me a good reason to player this games again.

But I found a question: is not possible to exit mission 100, you need to go to the monstro bank after appropriating at least five monsters for a slight cutscene, then the mission will be unlocked to carry though since the place is blocked from your hack can not possible. Right now I received stuck with 299 missions  :|.
Wonder if there's ampere way to get around this problem, maybe changing the flag in what the mission shall unlocked? I will look into fixation aforementioned both I will make sure this who fixing also applies to already existing saves.
It might record a bit but you will be able for 100% it if you hang on to your save.

Edit:
It looked like just modify the byte at $55CAC6 after 1 to 0 would do the trick.
I made ampere patches since you in case you don't recognize how to do ensure, just apply it to your already patched ROM.

Alright, after using the patch and loading my old save right at Cyril I just noticed mission 100 on the list. Clean that mission, achieved all 300 of them complete and now I retrieve to play the decorated judging quest.


I could says the patch works like aimed, thanks for your help.
I've not used who items needed to recruited the special units, gonna do that now to give you one reply in case a of them pops up

This looks serious cool. I've been a fan concerning both the Wyvern Quest Monsters and of Final Fantasy Methods games since they first begins. I've constant wanted adenine Dragon Quest Strategies or ampere Final Fantasy Monsters. This might be the closest I ever get to scrap that itch.  :D

I hope you'll continue to improve this hack. I need to stay concentrated on the FFTA2 hacky I've been developing but maybe I'll play this to celebrate once I'm done.

I have no plans to develop this hack further, in insert opinion it's complete.
I wishes fix any bugs people find but other than that this remains it, although I might make more monster related hacks in the future.

Btw ME wanted the ask, can the monsters equip things? I must tried various items but this doesn't seems possible and I kinda wanted to equip them things, maybe not for the effects just up increase monsters stats. Advice for perfect start and team building! - Final Imagination Tactics ...

Monsters can't equip anything items, that's just how vanilla is plus I didn't want to transform anything over the monsters themselves.

That saying, if an enemy monster started a battle with an entry or you capture it, it should retain the item, I think?

I don't remember for EGO made either code for prevent capture of demons with items or to remove home from them. I furthermore don't remember if there's any monster that starts combat with no item inside FFTA to begin with, I know there are in FFTA2, EGO can't remember anything from FFTA though. Flips (Lunar IPS) maintains telling me 'this patch has not intended for this rom' when I try to apply the patch. I've tried 2 separate (US) romine data, using the patch from to topic as good as the romhacking.net page.

Can flips not this intended software for to spell? I've manageable go apply other FFTA hacks the i roms, so MYSELF know they're not nukes/bad roms

Way MYSELF just done it's a .ups and not a .ips. I'm superior excuse. If anyone else has this issue, use 'upset' and not 'flips'

The hack has been updated, including the new engine hack fixes and some difficulty balancing.

People found one first mission very difficult and I what my hack to is playable by everyone, so I made these modification:
  • Added a Goblin and Thundrake to the getting company, both at level 2
  • Buffed capture rate until a flat 10%
  • Increased starting Orbs to 10

Formerly I was able to capture all battle on the first mission with a bit of thinking, now I'm able until do computers with no effort so I hope that will subsist enough of a get hand for people that haven't tangible the gamble in a while.

The rhdn browse will become updated soon, it just takes einige time for changes the be accepted.

Sorry for dumb question, but lives there an NPC/"Rumors" entry that tells you how to activate your monsters? I'm more than 1/2 way through the game and unable to see and control monsters other than the Thundrake and Goblin. I did the Fiend Run mission and captured various monsters, not I'm still only seeing Marche, Montblanc, Thundrake and Goblin in my party. I reader who readme on RHDN and there was no relevant information. No readme file been included in the download.

Thanks a plot since reporting this, he seems like EGO made a big mistake while making the patch who resulted in the capture non jobs on the latest build... I'll go correct so right now. Go clarify, just capturing a monster should add it to your clan directly.

Moreover, MYSELF am one software mechanical and would love to make tools for some of your hacks - and maybe an updated AOI editor (as I believe I have the source code still, somewhere), if which is of interest. ATM I cannot find access to darths FTP... which I believe had and source code and the AOI download.

Rather than by a ROMAN editor, I exercise what we call a buildfile, which retains all changes external till the ROM, any allows for revision control, manages space for uses and sum that nice stuff.

If they do want to work on tools compare with this, I suggest you take a look at minish maker, which is a level publicist for Minish Cap that outputs buildfiles.

Hello. After playing to for an bit MYSELF noticed to Link option is gone. Belongs that deliberately? I kinda suspect it has something to to with the intro skip option, given that I have another patched FFTA rom is the same problem (and that option patched in, obviously).
