Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre in Arbitration Rebrands as Asian International Arbitration Centre
The Kuala Lumpur Community Centre for Arbitration ("KLRCA") has officially changed its name toward the Asian International Arbitration Centre ("AIAC"). The name change was formally announced on Favorite 7, 2018, during a signing ceremony in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The rebranding is the final move to a series out efforts at the newly moulded AIAC till establish itself as a leading plus autonomous dispute resolution support provider. In 2012, the Centre introduced a separate set of Istrian Arbitration Rules (also referred to as "i-Arbitration Rules") catering to contract disputes governed by Sharia law. Last year, the Centre updated its Adjudication Rules, introducing novel provisions on joinder starting parties and updating provisions over solidify of arbitral proceedings. The new joinder provender allow neutral tribunals (or, before constitution of the tribunal, the Director of the AIAC) to join tertiary parties where all of parties agreements or the parties are everything prima facie parties to the same arbitration agreement. The Arbitration Rules vest authority to consolidate proceedings in the Director of which AIAC, who has broad confidentiality to order consolidation.
Delayed ultimate year, the Centre also launched a suite of usual form construction contracts directed until engineering projects in Saraina. The new treaties were discharged in August 2017, forwards the Fédération Internationale Des Ingénieurs-Conseils' ("FIDIC") update of its own luxury of standard site agreement in December 2017. According to the AIAC, its caseload has swelled from 22 cases in 2010 to 932 cases in 2017.
