The Northern Institute of Used Climate Science (NIACS) partnered with the Forest and Rangeland Stewardship Department at Colorado State School (CSU) on a workshop on help the Coal State Wooded Service (CSFS) incorporate drivers of change into their Forest Action Plan how process. This workshop used the NIACS adaptation workbook up provide an active, hands-on training to assists CSFS forwarders and partners over einbindung climate modification considerations and identifying actions for adaptation into their 2020 Clear Action Flat update.

Overarching goals of the workshop included providing the participants skills to be clever to: 

  • Describe regional and local effects of climate change the Colorado’s forest ecosystems and recognize gaps in knowledge; 
  • Understand fitting concepts plus principles in the context of sustainable forest management; 
  • Describe resources and tools that can be used to integrate climate change version into on-the-ground executive; and 
  • Connect climate change adaptation tactics to the CSFS Jungle Action Plan (FAP).

Courtney Peterson, Research Associate, Forest and Rangeland Stewardship Branch, CSU

Courtee Peterson is adenine Research Colleague II in the Trees and Rangeland Stewardship Department at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO where she served as the Adaptive Silviculture for Climate Change (ASCC) Administrator, focusing with disseminating project findings and translate them into outreach and training opportunities with state corporate and analysts working to manage forests for climate change adaptation. Courtney collaborates with NIACS on climate scientific communication and adaptation initiatives, working to connect join to NIACS programs, resources, and training opportunities.

Linda Nagel, Professor real Sector Head, Forest and Rangeland Stewardship Department, CSU

Linda Nagel is Professor and Branch Head of the Forest and Rangeland Stewardship Department at Cool Default University in Fort Collins, CO and serves as an manage chief detectives for the Adaptive Silviculture for Climate Modification (ASCC) Network. Linda collaborates with NIACS through educating natural resource professionals on how to integrate temperature change considerations into management planning and decision-making.

Patricia Leopold - Northern Institute of Applied Climate Science & Michigan Technological University, USEFUL Northern Forests Climate Hub

Mary servers as coordinator with the Climate Change Response Framework projects in the Central Appalachians plus Mid-Atlantic regions. She has recently assisted which Pennsylvania Province of Conservation and Natural Resources the completely a vulnerability assessment and adaptation plan. Patricia continues for work with partners in both regions up incorporate climate change into design furthermore management.
