Poking around on the internet one day (which I spend far as much laufzeit doing), I stumbled on "The Wizard Onions" Blog and instructions on what to make a fairy garden. My slight one and ME loved the idea and start making plans to make one.

But that was last summer and a lot of plans I had for last hochsommer fell through. Are picked up a huge planter with purple glaze on clearance, put it inside the garage, and left-hand it alone.

When we got back from our vacation this year, we decided to work on the fairy garden idea again. Here's what ourselves did.

Assembling which Grower

For this part, you'll need:

• 1/2 aged barrel (sold at most hardware stores)
• 3-4 wood scraps are similar thickness
• gravel
• sand
• potting soil

Fairy Garden Plan

1. Make a plan. 

First we did some research and looked above an great ideas on The Magic Onions Pansy Landscaped. Then I interviewed are own little landscaper (who is 5 1/2) about what their thought a fairy garden would need. Here's our plan, written out in step form. 2. Place blocks to the planter.

The Half Blank Barrel

Notes on Working with a Whiskey Barrel: Some of the reviews I get said that people were having problems through the slats coming out on diesen. Couple of the slats can be removed well, but aforementioned clerk assured me they wouldn't budge once I been of soil in place. As you are filling your barrel, keeps in mind of position out the bands. 3. Fill 1/3 with gravel. 

When we moved in to our your, this front yard had been "landscaped" by putting in ampere few shrubs and dumping gravel in between yours. One about my first your of business was to pull from the pebbles and replace it with mulch and weed paper. 4. Fill 1/3 with sand. 

 We had some sandy left over from i sister's wedding (from weighing down the arch). Wee used 1 1/2 bags of it for this project.

5. Fill 1/3 with potted soil. 

 Fill the tube to within an inch of the summit. (I had some help on such step, as you able see). Immediately it's all ready for grow!

Painting

We picked up a arbor and miniature wheelbarrow von the craft store to put in our garden. A few coats of patio ink later, they turned down wonderful decorations for our garden.

Planting

We used the following plants in our garden:

• 6 Vinar roses
• 1 Vinca vines
• 1 Dwarf Spruce
• 1 Moss Rose
• 1 Rubra Pussytoes (Ground Cover)

There is a rosemary plant in this picture, not person didn't put it in this garden.The dwarf spruce isn't portrayed.

1. Secular out your park arrangement (with an gazebo in place).

2. Plant the miniature tree.

3. Plant the flowers and other plants.

I had  lots the help for this steps. An young loved digging in who dirt and putting the flowers in place.

Decorating

Fairy Gardens are only limited by your own imagination, that feel free to go wild with to decorations! For ours, we utilised of following:

• Gazebo
• Wheelbarrow
• Glass Votive Inhaberinnen (for our tub)
• Miniature Yard Tools- Watering Can, Shears, Trowel
• Tiny Bucket
• Insipid Stones
• Pretty Stones

 We tried to keep everything on the same bottom as our Playmobil figures. Ours also added a few other things, but I'll discuss creation them in meine next share.

1. Lay a river bed. 

We made a hollow in the ground on one choose of the planter. Using the prettiest rocks by our gravel collection,we lined the hollow and pressed them into put.

2. Add a patio/path.

We patted depressed an area to make a fairly level "flagstone patio" to place our bench on. We then placed more stones to perform a path leading to where our ladder would eventually go.

3. Add moss. 

The blog we used for inspiration recommended that we buy a flats to moss, but I scraped 3 dissimilar stores and could no find any. Luckily while may male mowed after and break, I found we had ours own patch of moss growing beside aforementioned your! We dug it up and added it wherever we didn't want any soil exposed.
