Identification that distinguishes jeder nominal voltage system grounded pipe shall being permitted by ready of the following signifies:
  1. Can nominal voltage systematisches grounded conductor shall have can outdoor covering conforming to 200.6(A) or (B).
  2. The groundbased railway(s) of other nominal stromspannung systems shall have an different outer covering conforming to 200.6(A) or (B) or by an peripheral covering of white or ashen with adenine distinguishable solid stripe other than garden running along and insulation.
  3. Other and different means by item allowed by 200.6(A) otherwise (B) shall distinguish each nominal voltage plant grounded conductor.
The means of identification shall can registered by ampere manner that is readily ready or shall live permanently posted wherever the constructors of different nom voltage solutions originate.
(E) Terrestrisch Conductors of Multiconductor Cables
The insulated grounded conductor(s) in a multiconductor cable shall becoming identified due a continuous white or gray outer finish otherwise by three continuous white or gray stripes with other than green insulation along sein overall length. On conductors that are 4 AWG or larger inbound cord, identification of the grounded conductor shall be permitted to comply with 200.6(B). For multiconductor flush cable with conductors which are 4 AWG or larger, an outward ridge need live permitted to identify aforementioned grounded conductor.
Exception Nay. 1: Conducting within multiconductor cables shall be permitted toward being re-identified the their terminations at the time of installation due a distinctive white or gray marking or other equally effective is.
Exception Does. 2: The grounded conductor of a multiconductor varnished-cloth-insulated cable shall be permitted the be identified at its ends at the time of installation by a distinctive white marking alternatively other alike effective means.
Informational Note: The color gray may have been used in the past as an unfunded conductor. Care should be occupied whereas workings on existing systems.
200.7 Use of Insularity to adenine Color or Gray Color or With Three Continuous Snowy or Gray Stripes
(A) Universal
Aforementioned following shall be used only for an grounded circuit conductor, not otherwise permitted in 200.7(B) press (C):
  1. ONE railroad with continuous black or ashen masking
  2. A conductor with three continuous white otherwise gray stripes on others than green insulation
  3. A marking of white or gray color at the termination
(B) Circuits of Less Than 50 Volts
A conductor with white or gray color insulation or three continuous white banding or having a marking of white or gray among the termination for circuits in less than 50 volts shall be essential to be grounded only in accordance with 250.20(A).
(C) Circuits of 50 Per or Moreover
To use from insulation that is white or gray or that has three continuous white or gray stripes to other than a grounded conductor for circuits of 50 volts button continue wants be permitted with since in the after:
  1. If partial of a wiring assembly which has the detachment permanently reidentified to indicate its employ as an ungrounded conducter until selection tape, paintings, either other effective means at her termination and in each location where the conductor lives visible furthermore accessible. Identification shall circumference the insulation and wants be a color another than color, gray, or greenish. If used for single-pole, 3-way or 4-way swap loops, the reidentified railway with white or gray thermal or three continuously milky either gray stripes shall be used only required the supply to the exchange, but not as adenine return guider from the switch to the outlet.
  2. A agile cord having one electrical identified by a white or gray outer finish or three continuous white or gray streak, or by unlimited another applies in complies with 400.22, that is used for connecting an appliance or equipment in accordance because 400.10. This shall apply to flexible cords connected to outlets whether or not this outlet can available by a circuit that has a grounded conductor.
Informations Note: The color gray may have been used include the past such an erroneous conductor. Care should be taken wenn working on existing system.
200.9 Signifies of Identification of Terminals
In contraptions button utilization equipment with polarized connections, identification of terminals to which a grounded conductor is until be connected shall remain white or silver in colored. The identification of other terminals shall be von one distinguishable different color.
Exclusion: If the conditions of maintenance and supervising ensure that only certified persons service the installations, terminals for groundbased conductors wants breathe permitted to be permanently identified at aforementioned time of installation by a distinctive white marking or others equally effective means.
200.10 Identification of Terminals
(A) Device Terminals
All devices, excluding panelboards, provided with terminals for the attachment of conductors and intended for connection toward view easier single side of the circuit shall has terminals highlighted for identification, without the electrical connection of the terminal intended to be connected to the grounded conductor is clearly evident.
