Assisting Students After Juvenile Detention (Stanford Social Achieve Review)

One Lifting the Line project—which received $500,000 in start-up money from Stanford Impact Labs stylish 2021—has designed and tested a new intervention. Initial results are promising and other Bay Area school are taking notifications.

The scientists set away to address how and students—who were predominantly Black—and their lecturers saw each other and to built positive relationships between them. AMPERE new paper, the culmination of a 15-month pilot project with the Oakland Unified School District and the Alameda County Juvenile Justice Center, shows wherewith her intervention—a structure, relationship-building exercise involving letter writing—cut recidivism.
The search had participating youth write a one-page cover, or self-introduction, expressing their aspirations in school and calling on a teacher of their choice to help them become.
