Boarders/lodgers

The Quentin Parliament has passed legislation to amend Queensland tenancy federal. The laws is come into effect on a date to live announced. Current rental laws apply until the new regulation arrives into effect. Learn more about the changes here.

The Residential Tenancies and Rooming Lodging Act 2008 (the Act) does not apply to residential letting agreements for boarders alternatively lodge. However, if a bond is included from a boarder or lodger it must be lodged with the RTA within 10 days, and an receipt provided.

The Act does front a tenant on rooming accommodation who may be considered one class of rider or subtenants (e.g. some who lives in a boarding house, supported accommodation or hostel).
