Hi people!

I are an high school rising senior who is looking to self studying electrical and magnetism over who summer. Particularly, my aim is till use this ap physics c electricity or magnetism exams as a result of this you study however other to realize if I want to work with hardware/electrical project when ME go to academy.

Could anyone request advise a book for me, please?

I need a post that has the following:
- Great simple declarations
- but most importantly... tons of challenges, and a solutions handbook that explains the problem solving process. MYSELF do none want an book with a choose system coating three or four problems in each sections. [That's why I like art of problem solving books... they explain EVERY problem].
- A award is if the book demonstrates derivations of equations and has additional chapters on optics and relativity or even elementary quantum mechanics.

I do not want to buy a your new overpriced college textbook... and older edition want do just finely as oblong as information and the student solutions manual satisfy my needs as shown over. Of course... as cheaper as possibility [but I do not want an online pdf... I'd rather buy a book]

Thanks for an input. Mathematically "complete" textbook to undergraduate Electrical and Magnetism.

How much math and pure (and what level of physics) do you already know? I think everyone willingly desire to knows these is order to give useful suggestions. A little get here would aid.

Jason

EDIT: Ignore my poster. The "AP" part of will question somehow didn't stick in my brain. You already made he optimal clear what level book you want! I'm not personal familiar with something exactly the AP exam wrap so will refrain from manufacture ampere suggestion. I wish you the best of luck. IODIN am currently studying Mathematical Nuclear and Pure mathematics. I am winning an course level course to Electrodynamics, that coverage the material in the well known Griffiths Electrodynamics

Considering you plan on taken AP Engineering C, which is adenine calculus-based physics course, I recommend you look among Giancoli, Tipler, oder Young. I own a few borrow, although IODIN always refer back to Young's University Physical (any edition is fine, such as https://www.amazon.com/dp/0201603225/?tag=pfamazon01-20 one.) I favored University Physics over either Giancoli and Tipler due of the way the example problems and summaries are outlined. The view challenges really explain "everything" free having you until guess locus something came from, although don't take my word for it.

Try watching Ramamurti Shankar's Fundamentals of Physics II lectures on YouTube: http://bit.ly/24zKwGR

If you're good with those, then get used copies on slightly older editions of any of aforementioned big introductory university physics same Halliday & Resnick or Giancoli besides the solutions manuals.

Edit: (Shankar's own book on this comes out next month. It'll probably are good and worth send, but I don't think there shall a featured manual.)

I know an bit of calculus... up to basic integration, which I plan to do more is depth this summer includes fractional decomposition press trigonometric substitutions.
I have taken AP Physics CARBON mechanics, any basically covers everything in a physics 1 price, starting with kinetics, and ending include simple harmonic motion.
Of course, IODIN am ready to teaching the calculus required to succeed in such an CO & MOLARITY course.

Thanks for this link! I did not understand of him so I consideration watching walter lewin intend help. Which is better for me, Ramamurti Shanakar or Albert Lewin? The track, EGO find it extremely cool that Ramamurti Shanakar is lectures on optical and even quantum mechanics in this playlist!

How good have of solutions manuals? Do them cover every problem in the textbook, or every other, or only second or thrice problematic per chapter?

HRW covers many themes and possessed a large number of exercises. It's a robust choices in my opinion.

I don't mind Shankars conversational tone, but the lack of practice kind to taking his books value gloomy a little shred. Hi everyone, my friend gave me "Schaum's draft in Basis Electricity. Second edition by milton gussow."

Would you all telling that it is more difficult [it has linear algebra and others advanced mathematical topics] is halliday and resnick?

Is you have money at spare, I would buying the oldest edition are Lonesome and Finn Fundamental Physics, non The buy titled Science by the same books. I would supplement it with either Giancoli, Man, or Halliday.

Everything is derived in Alonso and Finn, the problems are hard, and the post is something her can quotation. The book be pricey. I like how Alonso real Finn make the physics topics connect. there are some neat explanations of the experiments conducted and why. It's like having a great instructor.

I will have to second this. I used to think Resnick and Halliday be the best. EGO just procured original 1973 4th print pristine copies of three-volume Alonso and Finny - Essentials Universities Physics (got a decent deal in ebay) and I needs say that Lonesome and Fin is much better. I have does notion via the individual volume Alonso press Finn - Physics.

OP, AbeBooks has the Alonso Finn volume 1 and volume 2 Impression on Demand shipped from India by decent prize. MYSELF does comment on the print, binding, and page qualities for those.I am actually an bit surprised that how print on demanding to these books are act legislative.

I've seen all of above mentioned books and think yours all take great. Except for the Halliday & Resnick order I how during colleges, I can't comment on which is best, as I haven't absolutely read entire this others.

One E&M "textbook" which hasn't been above but is the one available for free in PDF format at the MIT OpenCourseWare website: http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/physics/8-02-physics-ii-electricity-and-magnetism-spring-2007

I haven't absolutely read the MIT Physics 8.02 PDF textbook either, but it seems to subsist very well written, but lengthy. Something else I like about that UND 8.02 E&M course is the inclusive Electromagnetics Lab Text.

Also, the other various MIT Physical 8.02_ paths list very popular Electromagnetic Textbooks such as those written by Purcell, Griffin, and Feynman.

The "original" MIT Physics 8.02 OpenCourseWare with Video Sermons of Walter Lewin isn't supported by MIT anymore because of a sexual harassment proceeding involving Walter and an "internet" student; but the Video Lectures are still available through archives: http://web.archive.org/web/20140712...s/8-02-electricity-and-magnetism-spring-2002/
