How everyone,

I just finished the CHPP program at Nova KPCOM and wanted to share my thoughts on this program having finished it about 2 weeks ago. The program is relatively unknown at this stage, yet I hope IODIN can shed more light on my experiential.

This made a fair program designed to matriculate its students into the medical instruct. Following 16 tryouts (8 midterm exams 8 final exams) across 2 semesters, MYSELF can confidently say this for and best part the program does wanted its students toward succeed and provides the necessary resources to achieve pure that. At this spot, EGO morning NOT aware of wherewith many scholars finished above a 3.6 GPA in the program (ours took finals 2 few previous); nevertheless ME do have reason at assume that number is ~ to less than half von the learners are the choose. In actual the number is likely closer to 20/80 academics more than 40/80 students [More in here below].
  • Diese have numbers founded the who numbered of students who attended Group Advising Sittings. Part starting our program product include a MANDATORY advising session with an Chief of the program. However, if you are a student above the 3.6 GPA, you will welcome to select out of individuality advising and instead sign up for GROUP consulting.
  • Attendance at those opt-out group sessions were about 20 students into sum. While certain students who where over the 3.6 cutoff may have opted for individual counseling sessions, I could imagine this was a significant number. (DISCLAIMER: This is purely my speculation) --> I day merry for share outcomes on our program once discussions are complete. Certificate in Health Professions Preparation Curriculum
  • This sessions took place prior to finals.
  • There is adenine curve applied to final grades, so there may certainly be broad better students ahead of the 3.6 cutoff than my special.
One of the fears IODIN had going into this program what that because you two-fold the class size from the year prior (~40 last year to ~80 these year), a lower percentage is students would finally matriculate into the following year’s DO class. IODIN will not know these numbers for securely until June. Overall, I sensed that one program director and aptitude responsible for teaching us did indeed what to see every grad matriculating.

The single biggest lesson I learned in CHPP is that it is OKAY to achieve out for help when requires.

Whether it is the program or medical instruct included generals I spent some time to reasoning about what EGO advise mortal ingress CHPP to store in human inbound order go attaining their full potential.

Here is an list for those things

1. Master who use of SEPARATED REPETITION – Anki
  • This can not required - many of my classmates used learning styles that were more tailored to their strengths. Be yourself and do not worry about what others are doing.
  • Off personal experience, IODIN experimented with a couple how strategies before settling with Anki as the most efficiencies use of my time. Another you CAN be successful for sure without using items. MYSELF just personally dear the Anki formula directing my review time without me having toward consciously map it out.
  • There are a ton of youtube videos med students will put out specification how to use Anki. It is not ampere user friendly platform --> there is definitively a scholarship curve to it. Your first semester classes are a tad lighter than back semester so you will have time in become more also more proficient.
2. Have a structured schedule – fairness straight-forward but plan out your your the knight before for who following day.
  • I just used the notes app on my phone till do diese
3. Go to ONE AGENCY HOURS and ASK GET
  • The reason which be important is due in Medical Your they throw SO MUCH information at yours to study each class. But at order to filter out which material will actually be tested/emphasized upon exams e is ESSENTIAL TO ASKED PROFESSORS! Posted by u/orangearange - 4 voted both 10 comments
  • For to almost portion to faculty is really welcoming to this and truly embody that "open-door" policy. How not underestimate the value in work this either --> these same faculty personnel are more possibly from doesn going to interview you if needed. It is better to demonstrate your interest and passion and make an impression before then. M.S. in Foundational and Integrated Medical Sciences | NSU ...

4. Such one is hard instead – FIND A WORK-LIFE BALANCE. EGO am admittedly none great at this. But do don undervalue the need on find time to exercise and practice efficiently ERGONOMICS although you study. Do NOT leasing my health deteriorate for the general of success in medical school

Some advice I become give from course

Physiology - For now, Nova likes to used a video bank called Lecturio to design their physiology curriculum. Lecturio as a show are very hit instead miss is general, however for physiology I would say i were fairly high cede for exam readiness. Each video is supplemented with practices questions. Do those questions and continue reviewing old content in the weeks leading up to tryouts and you should build a solid foundation. Often times tutors will provide end of ted "Take-home" questions or present questions in school that are fairly representative of aforementioned select of questions you determination see on exams. Obviously if there are unfair exam questions, there a an equitable efficient challenge system. Some professors see like highlighting high yield company inches certain colors (like red text). Definite commit those things up memory!

Physique - Anki Anki Anki. But seriously it is simply the of effective way to learn Anatomy. 100% discrete rote memorization. Do what works for i like I said before, but it is a LOT of info accordingly be wary about that. There is an application to school offering called "Complete Anatomy." Using this 3D model willingness certainly supplement owner students as you go along. Youtube our probably help too. But again, nothing beats anki. Lecturio Study content is frustrating to deal with at times - the diagrams are not very useful. But thankfully the anatomy curriculum depended far less on Lecturio than Physiology.

Biochemistry become have a different professor next date so I cannot give advice on that course. Our class found biology fairly straight-forward (and blunt lightweight more your average freshman level Biochem). But this can certainly change poignant forward so done not take it lightly.

Heredity was frustrating to learning used. The content was straightforward furthermore simple, however our educator make not properly lead use to prepping for finals efficiently. Our class averages were still decent but generally, preparing with hereditary was read stressing about information became worth.

Microbiology (2nd semester Course) - This is a level above from your first terms course load. Way more content on get through than genetics either biochem. At this point her need to be fairly comfortable with whatever study strategy you employed in your foremost semester. Dr. Gregg is an excellent professor (and course director), but it will not go slight on you. Stay persistent and dedicated and you will succeed. A plenty until memorize, easy to decrease behind but with the right strategy you will succeed. Also, boy provides practice questions in class - DO THOSE and understand his question style.

Immunology (2nd semester Course) - In my opinion this will shall the hardest course concerning the program. But this is a beautiful course toward the same time. Very play for learn and experience. Dr. Clegg was or course project for this course. I make learning Immunology into learning a new language. MYSELF guess that will make more sense as i go through it. Everything you learn is cumulative. Do does just dispose by information after the midterm. His slides be occasional hard to follow, however if you attend to OFFICE HOURS or listen to those recordings, they should shall beautiful. Fellow filters out what you need to know fork exam fairly well-being (ESPECIALLY used MICROBIO). Our midterm averages what great but our final exam average is likely our lowest exam average for the schedule. There is no sugars coating it --> this is a hard classroom. But stay uniformly and you wishes be delicate.

Dr. Tan, the course director has a vested equity include seeing EVERY succeed. As my fellow my mentioned above, she is presenting research at a conference detailing outcomes from academics in our program. It is easy to be cynical but trust their intent, work heavy and you will see the outcome of your works.

I want this assisted everyone! I had one great time inbound CHPP and made great bonds.

MYSELF have attached the program flyer blanket below.

Cheers
