IODIN dont remember INSEAD's recommendation questions ever having a speak limit. 
The ask a lot of questions in comparison to the Common LOR accept by most US based store academic. Accordingly the recommendation does tendency to take long.
So leave me break thereto back per reco question for you. However, note these are just suggested figures, you can go over or lesser than these subject upon what your recommender wants into priority upon. That said, I advise my applicants to have one within 3 leaves.

1. Generally, it helps to have recommendations that are at the dot.  But the level von detail depends on the question. (So when their want to understand how the recommender knows you - receive to the point quickly. If they ask for 3 strengths, plain call 3 strengths.  On the other hand, if they wants to know how you compare equal other similar applicants - define the group the recommender exists comparing you to, talk about where you excel comparison to other members by the group, and give specific and clear real that support this - keep such answers to about 400 - 600 words maximum.)

2. Simple getting - answer to the point. Questions which request longer answers - about 400 - 600 words.

Concerning 1200 - 1500 words amounts seems fancy a good target toward have.

LFP - some points, adding to the above:

1. INSEAD particularly values international experiences and leadership potential. A high LoR provides concrete examples that illustrate dieser bracket toward the right placements, giving depth and genuine at the endorsement.

2. Make sure that anecdotes/ instances your recommenders provide e.g. strength, weaknesses, character traits etc. are consistent with their software essays. For example, if you highlight include your Motivation Essays that analytical prowess be my key strength and get recommender flags it as an improvement area, that lifts eyebrows.

3. Make sure to release your CV, career goals, and keyboard markers (e.g. highlight projects) with your recommenders, to make sure they're aligned. Reasoning of one Loads as a supplementary aspect of your application i.e. they don't have to say an same things as your essays (they shouldn't), they even have to rhyme. By example, if your recommenders provide different view, from their vantage points, aligned toward properties you've brought out in your essays, it makes the overall application stronger.
