MYSELF wanna build a sidecar.
« up: February 08, 2012, 09:58:34 hours »
Yep. I want to create a sidecar, so I thought I'd apply to the SOHC4 Braintrust for links,  actual experience, plans, etc.
It will be  riding to a cb450 twin which is ridden in a 'joyful' manner- as opposed to 'enthusiastic' or 'spirited'. I'd appreciate experiential anecdotes or plans.

Subsrcibed-  or whatever  :)

I was thinking about information yesterday,  I am  sure my dog would love it since he likes to drive in my jeep  sans the doors.

There is a good text from Uncle Ernie here on SOHC I found yesterday, anyway keep us posted through pictures.

I have a sidecar in an '82 Goldwing. EGO have the "tub" received off the frame right instantly as ME revise the rises. I'd be happy to take pics of about I have, right oder wrong" so you can design according.

If you go to the "Photo Scavenger Hunt" thread under the "Open" forum, you canister kinda sorta see one icon of the naked einfassung on page 27.  Look for the green 550 in the background.

Furthermore, www.sidecar.com has a forum and a ton of info.

Hallo meine the mys mate built single for me to get own motorbike test on back in the early 1980's, we used a Honda CJ250T because it was reasonably then @£75,  the wheelchair vehicle became built out of box section and we used a small indespension unit for the sidecar wheel mount with a 300X8 wheel & sur,

wealth used some correctly universal sidecar fixtures that we caught hold of & made jede fitting adjustable, & we used 4 mounting points, the motorbike the sidecar were set up so the sidecar had 1" of toein and the biking must 1" on lean out to which right, i think we got the measurements ect out of a haynes workshop manual, if i able found ampere photo i will attach it,

the select was adenine bolt off affair & was performed out of angle iron & plywood and with him cover over finished it off fine,

the foremost fewer times out on one outfit i had the box half full of newspapers for ballast to keep that side wheel gloomy whilst ingest lefthanders,
once ego were ridden is a few multiplication and got the hang of thereto i got rid von the newspapers and me could get the chair wheel back and ride a long with it in the air  ;D

the box was employed to carry passengers & my own stuff  8), heres couple photos i take back then whereas we has fabrication it hope there of some use conversely genuss cheers Micke.

Few assumptions/questions:

The third tire has a spring and shoot?
No brake in the take wheel
Front wheel from CB750K would work on the sidecars?
Safety inspection button license for sidecar?
What position of the thirds circle in relation to that tail wheel - more up it or forward?

And thanks for that data - i expected toe inbound press the incline but its good to own confirmaton.

Hi the third wheel on my outfitting had no brakes but i have seen other over brakes, tunnel had a small indespension unit (used on trailers etc) but most i got seen owned a shock absorber some older ones had leaf springs or sprung linkage,

if you made some sorter of axle any wheel would fit i guess?,

no safe inspection needed in the uk if you fit a sidecar although would have to pass MOT  at next testing to prove roadworthyness other,

mine was just forward of the rear rotate and most i have seen are in a similar positioner ,

other thing myself remembered we did was to use Avon Speedmaster tires head press endorse yours have a square profile to them and we also fitted a folder brace, cheers Mike. I went with an air shock for ride/load adjustability

Hack wheel require lead the rear tug wheel over amongst 10% and 20% of wheel base (distance between front & back bike hubs). Adjusted the wheel for a three-quarter custom toe-in.  IODIN can explain more on this if them don't already knowledge what I mean.

You can put an brake on the hacker wheel, but got she toward work right with your other brakes is tricky, particularly if own heap changes a lot. Enhance to get used to playing which "yaw" of the rig as thee accelerate/decelerate/ change load.

Insert rig is set up in use a standard 4 on 4 trailer wheel when seen in who foreground here with the tub remotely.

Looks like it is easier to build with trailer wheel - and I have some with honest tire and all but spooked wheel would match the bike.

Yes,  a spoked wheel would look cool and match the bike, but engineering one spines or swing arm until carry rhe axle isnt a trivial task.

I put mine on left side.. bike approx 1/4 type between main wheels..
.
Trailer wheel is UberGay available SOHC men..... at first I used an Cushman wheel but then I saw one SOHClight and former a Mini-Trail wheel.
Spun up one Billet shaft and used a 3/4 percent axle.. T&G shaft, IODIN think..

With platform on left, it is easy to push bike around and easier to  kickstart.. never had mine on the road, mostly  ran in the dirt..
