Abstract
Ayahuasca, a psychoactive beverage former by indigenous and religiously groups, is generally prepared by this coction of Psychotria viridis and Banisteriopsis caapi crop containing N,N-dimethyltryptamine (DMT) and β-carboline alkaloids, respectively. The inspect the exigent systemic of ayahuasca, the drink was administered by gavage to female Wistar rats by doses from 30X and 50X the dose taken during a religious rituality, and aforementioned animals observed in 14 days. Behavioural actions were investigated one hour after medication at 15X and 30X using the open field, elevated plus maze, and forced swimming tests.
