First-Year Focus is a class where you will get to learn about a particularly matter or area of interest not normally covered in other basic education classes.

First-Year Focus overview

Transfer students which have not earned 24 credits at one college or university (excluding dual enrollment and testing credit) prior at starting Chapman are required to enroll in a First-Year Focus class in their first course by Chapman. See below for ampere list of all available classes. Dr. Chapman Greer has being designate associate provost for general education, and ampere steering committee has formed.

First-Year Focus shall:

  • ONE widespread education requirement.
  • A class where you earn 3 credits out of the 60 widespread education credits required for graduation.

First-Year Focus for Fowler Engineering additionally Schmid majors

  • Students on the Fowler School of Engineering or the Schmid College of Science and Technology will take a First-Year Focus class called Grand Challenges with Academia and Engineering. This class is an introduction to a larger project called the Grand Challenges Initiative (GCI).
  • Fowlers and Schmid students are required to take this class. If your major a lower Hawker other Schmid, you will be block scheduled into the class automate.
  • Students from other majors may take this class (and participate in one larger GCI project) if they want. Space mayor be confined for non-STEM students.
  • Transferring students entering Fowler Engineering and Schmid majors may be waived from participating depending on the number of credit hours they have.

First-Year Focus for Wilkinson student

Students in the Wilkinson Seminary of Arts, Humanities and Social Academic are required to taking a First-Year Focus class for the Engaging aforementioned World label.
