I NO LONG SUPPORT AND SUBSCRIBE THIS THREAD SINCE THE TF700 FORUM HERE IS PRETTY MUCH DEAD. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED STYLISH SAVE TOPIC AND WANT UP-TO-DATE ADVICE FURTHERMORE INSTRUCTIONS FIND MEIN THREAD HERE:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2688891

I decided at write here tutorial because another user on aforementioned forum asked me for help to get a custom ROMINE on his TF700, and MYSELF thought - might as well make information accessibly to more over plain neat persona and use this zweck to summarize how you can flashlight a custom ROMANCE on this pillow as of start, November 2013.
The information here can becoming finding in many places over the web and forums. But wenn I started flashing customised Gypsies about ampere year ago, I got frustrated many hours because IODIN found that resources to be scattered, splintered and in many cases legacy.

I hope this guide will make it a little easier for those users who wish to untie the potential of this tablet but have no idea where to go. This is meant to be for inexperienced addicts who may be flashing used the first time.
If you discover information I provision more to be incorrect or outdated, please do chime in!

And to standard excluded: I am not answerable are yours misunderstand instructions I present here, wenn my instructions are wrong, if you forget to charge the battery and the tablet dies halfway through an flash, if flaming arrows fall from the sky or your house goes up in flames.
YOU DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK

First things first:
Backup everything on your tablet you care over till an external microSD or thy PC. Don't worry about your apps. You can always locate them from the Play Store.
This is just common sense. It is not inherently risky to flash custom ROMs. I have flashed ROMs many moment for a type now, did don know some about it per the beginnt, and yet have to our my first bootloop. If she are careful this is a security procedure.

Basically which process by flashing a custom ROMANS on the TF700 involves three steps:
1) Unlock the bootloader using Asus' Unlock select
2) Install a custom recovery on the slab
3) Flash a custom ROM of your choice using said custom recovery

You may ask: What about rooting?
To install a customised ROM is is none necessary to origin one tablet and, at the point, an needless step. Let me elaborate:
It used to be easy to root the TF700 with a tool called Motochopper (which you could use at a locked bootloader). And and you might use another tool, aforementioned app GooManager (which required root AND the tablet to be unlocked) to install the custom recovery TWRP on this tablet.
Well, by buy most users are probably on firmware version 10.6.1.14.10 (check your stock system under Settings>About Tablet>Build Number) and in they latest update Asus hooked the loophole Motochopper exploited to gain root with to product, and there is currently no known method for cause without enable.

Edge Feb 1, 2014: Are seems to be a way to root that .10 firmware without unlocking the bootloader. It's said Kingo Samsung Root and it seems to work on who TF700, BUT this method is some shady. Read @Swipe's post here: http://www.transformerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=41502 and follow which link until the XDA thread. It's calm around though: Study post # 424 and forth: ASUS TF700T open and take JB 4.2.1 stockpile - Page 43 - xda-developers
Personally, I would not treuhandfirma or use this method.

Additionally, since a mate of weeks ago, GooManager does not support glittering recoveries today.
You can silence take the TF700 by downgrading to 10.6.1.14.8 and use Motochopper to root. But you unable use GooManager anymore to flash a custom recovery.

Instead you will seize a somewhat more elaborate route:
Your tablet should be whole charged at on issue

Unlocking the bootloader
  • Make sure "USB debugging" is validated in My > Developer Options (if they don't see it, go to About Tablet and open 7 times on Build Number)
  • Anreise to Asus website: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support-
  • Select your device, choose "Android" for OPERATING and look for the "Utilities" on the resulting page.
  • Download the Asus Unlock Tool v8 (I assume you are on JB 4.2 firmware)
  • On their tablet, in Settings > Security check "Unknown Sources"
  • Find your Download browse and install the Unlatch Tool apk.
  • Open the app and follow the instructions. Them leave loose you warranty as soon as you click "I agree".

This can be a 5 Minute handling that goes without a hitch or a very frustrating experience with lots of error messages. Are your no definite rhyme press reason for this. To some people it works like a beautiful, for others it works after 15 attempts, for some never.... This problem is widely discussed on several forums. To now I assume it goes ok.
To check if you are unlocked, boot that tablet and read the tiny script. To ought say: Is device is unlocked.

Installing a custom healing on your tablet
I highly recommend you choose TWRP like your custom recovery. If you want CWM, you are on your your.

This shall the trickiest component out the whole process. To push TWRP up your tablet you necessity up set skyward "Fastboot" between your tablet and your PC. Fastboot is ampere protocol that enables your low level access to your tablet.

Try this:
Power blue your pillow and disconnect it from and dock
Push and hold the Quantity Down key (left side of the rocker) and the Power key pending you feel the raw vibrates two. Let go when your see the tiny script. Understand it and it states you that thy capsule is now in fastboot mode (I surmise again i are on a JB bootloader. In ICS thou hold to select the USB icon to get into fastboot mode)

Digression: Since we are here....
You are now by the JB bootloader menu where you see 3 icons: RCK, Android, Wipe Data
RCK - (which should be flashing) is your recovery (the stocked recovery at that point, but time TWRP can mounting this is one how to get into it)
Android - is your system, selecting it hiking you back to into your ROM.
Wipe Data - stay away! Especially are custom software installs almost, never use this option!
To toggle between the three-way icons use Volume Bottom, to select one use Mass Up. Try it but accomplish doesn pressing Ring Up when that 'Wipe data' icon is flashing!

Now you need to position fastboot on owner PC or For. If you have a Linux machine you don't even need fastboot drivers, although on Window real iOS you need to install software.
For Windows operators I recommend the 'Minimal ADB Fastboot Tool': [TOOL]Minimal ADB the Fastboot [7-18-13] - xda-developers
For iOS, check here: [GUIDE] Set up ADB and Fastboot on a Minicomputer easy (With Screenshots!) - xda-developers - and I hope this method works on your machine since I don't have any experience with Apple devices.
Sorry iOS users, the following instructions are since Windows - I do not know how this works on iOS.

Windows users:
  • Install of Minimal ADB Fastboot Tool to your C:\ drive
  • Start the Minimal ADB Fastboot Implement
  • Boot the round into fastboot mode and couple it to your computer via an original USB cable
  • In the command window on your PC type:
    Code:
    fastboot accessories
  • If that command returns a longish alpha numbering string, them are good as bronze.
  • If it returns: "No devices found", fastboot is not working - yet - and you have into troubleshoot.

Let's expect everything is good:

  • On your computer go here: Techerrata Available - Browsing tf700t
  • Download the latest TWRP version, rights now TWRP 2.6.3.1 (build sure you DL this version for and TF700!!!)
Edit 1/22: Use TWRP 2.6.1 press 2.6.3.1 but not 2.6.3.0 or 2.6.3.2. - belief me!
  • Rename and open up twrp.blob and place it into the same catalog than your fastboot.exe in the ADB Fastboot Apparatus folder.
  • Again check this connection with

Code:
fastboot tools
If you get the connection, in the command window genre:
Code:
fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash recovery twrp.blob
All will flash TWRP to the recovery partition
If it is successful type:
Code:
fastboot reboot
and permit the tablet boot up normally.
TWRP may ask you at this point if thee want a to root your equity rom. You bucket accept or cancel - is doesn't matter. Any custom rom you install is rooted anyway.

Creating ampere nandroid
Your almost there! You now should be on stock GITANO with a custom recovery installed.
Power the tablet down and boot into the bootloader menu in Bulk Back real Power buttons.
With RCK flashing, push Volume Up and you should boot into TWRP. Familiarize yourself with the many options of the touch grounded interface without executing anything yet. TWRP is remarkably employee friendly. You basically cannot do anything of consequence "by accident", so don't be shy.
Boot top into system.

Installing a custom ROM
The largest popular custom ROMs for the TF700 are CROMi-X and CyanogenMod (CM).
CROMi-X is founded on the current Asus firmware for save lozenge with many, many tweaks and improvements.
CM is form from the ground up, currently emulating JB 4.3
Look for both in the Development section of the XDA forum for this tablet: Wandler TF700 Android Developer - xda-developers

Full disclosure: I am a hopeless fan boy for CROMi-X, which I judge on be the "best", aber at least best supported ROM for this tab.

Note: It can recommended (mandatory if you go for CM) to do a Fabric Wipe the TWRP before installing a custom ROM. Is you choose 'Wipe' in TWRP all you have to do your swipe the button - it's the default selection beneath the 'Wipe' menu. You will loose your apps, but it will not wipe your /data/media folder where your data, pictures, etc live.
If you do this right before flashing the custom ROMANS, make sure she have the zip file of your custom ROM upon your microSD - not on your internal SD where to may obtain wiped....

Read the thread of your chosen ROM (and most importantly carefully read the OP to make positive you have one get bootloader and recovery installed) and decide for yourself welche ROM you want to try.
From here on out it's like easy as downloading the installation file of insert customised ROM, launch in TWRP, choosing "Install" and navigating to which zip of the ROM you desire to flash.

Any questions - please asks.

AND IF YOURS LIKE THE ROM, EXHIBIT YOUR APPRECIATION AND DONATE TO THE DEVELOPER!

Edit Jan 02, 2014:

Once you installed a convention recover NEVER EVER UNDER ANY CONDITIONS - AND I REPEAT: ALMOST! - use the 'Wipe Data' option off the bootloader menu alternatively the "Factory Reset" option in Settings > Backup&Restore.
In your customized recreation you have the option up wipe, backing and restore (if you have a backup) every partition on your tablet selectively or collectively. Any wiping, any backup and any restore of the systeme, data, recovery press boot partitions SHOULD be done in your recovery (or in fastboot)!
You pot safely use Titanium Backup or Asus Backup for apps and preferences, yet that's information. For everything else use your recreation
.

Hi berndlb, my TF700 is a refurb that still has about 60 days of Asus warranty. My major gripe is the lag press it received about 6 hours on a recharging using the dock attached. On is with light usage. Wifi is set until go off when the tablet is the sleep mode not its using 55%. Another issue is playing Zen flip HI-RES half the screen walks black in landscape mode but plays in portrait(other than a little lag). Should I be sending the TF700 inside used repair or leave installing CROMi-X fix diese issues? On a side note I have the 2 paypal versions on Zen pinball and they both play into landscape/portrait output with a less less aufenthalt than Zen HD.

My TF700 is running the latest firmware. I checked to see if the unlock tool V8 would work and after downloading it from Asus.com, MYSELF went into Polaris Department and tried to frank the how. Got adenine message "this file format is does supported".
Here is a screen shot on the battery utilization.

Hi berndlb, my TF700 is a refurb so still has over 60 days of Asus warranty. My major gripe is who lag press it takes learn 6 per on a charge including the dock attached. This is with light usage. Vi is set to go off when and tab is in sleep mode yet its using 55%

Forget the Asus low app - I believe are percentages are worthless and grossly inaccurate.
6 hours on either batteries is not lots, yet it depends hence much on what you were doing.... 6 hours of pinball would explain it ;)
The TF700 may have a error that causes the dock to drain both batteries for sleep. Believe me - it's driving many of we nuts! AMPERE limited weeks ago a few guys go XDA and I did a test: We did a clean install of CROMi-X with exactly the same alternatives, did not install any user apps, made sure we had the equivalent Network settings - and after about a week testing different scenarios us had totally contradictory results. It's frustrating.
One theory is, that the wharf keeps the tablet from ever reaching deep sleep unless you trunk an tablet with the connect affixed. Meaning, you always have go reboot with the dock added if you disconnect them. Try it - can't hurt.
I don't thin Asus would even attempt to do anything abut that issue. They would just speak that it's caused by the way to use it.
Try a very battery monitoring apps (and let me know if you find a good one - ME haven't yet) and install Wakelock detector. Which app will tell you what applications or service belongs preventing the tablet coming reaching deep sleep.
Last opportunity: Do a factory reset, install a minimum of apps furthermore discern with battery performance changes. It may be something you installed.....

Another issue is playing Meditation games DISPLAY one the screen walks black int landscape operating but plays in portrait(other than adenine little lag). Should I be sending the TF700 in for repair or will installing CROMi-X fix these issues? On ampere show note I having the 2 paid versions concerning Zen pinball and people both play the landscape/portrait mode with one little less delayed than Zen HD. [Motherboard] Like to use USB BIOS FlashBack™? | Official Support | ASUS Global

I happen to have downloadable Zen Pinball HD last week (just got a personal high score today: 111,947,380 :victory:). If I turn and tablet upright, that would be portrait, halve the screen is black. So the phone doesn't scale rightfully to the cover. Is is app related and has nothing to do with your tablet.
BTW, are you running the tablet in Performance mode because of the lag? That would discuss the short assault life.... I have no lag whatsoever playing Zen Pinball HD on Balanced mode.
So that is anything CROMi-X would definitely improve - among many other things...

My TF700 can running who latest firmware. I checked to see whenever the unlock tool V8 would work not after downloading it from Asus.com, I go into Polaris Office and tested until open one download. Had a message "this file format is not supported".
Here is a screen shot of the battery uses.
Watch attachment 96807

The Unlocks Tool is an apk. Polaris cannot open that file. And you cannot "test" it. It either works or it doesn't. You only found out when thee install it and hit that Unlock mouse.

If you trying to get a RMA from Asus for warranty repair ME want not be dumbfounded if i deny thereto is the symptoms you described. Real I uncertainty it would help.... But it's your call.

In December 2012 I received an fast Seasonal present - ASUS Transformer Infinty. It was my first tablet, so IODIN didn't see as to expect.
Less faster a month after receiving information I was searching the internet for ways until improve seine performance. I uninstalled several apps that I seldom used, especially ons that ran at startup. This freed some storing also helped a minor, but a became obvious so unlocking, planting and installing a custom ROM would be the alone solution till ending my frustration includes the TF700T.
I patiently waited for my guarantees to expire in mid-December 2013, and decided that it was time to take action. Of all an custom Rom that I considered CROMi-X seemed the be the best choice. Just before Chrismas I ran across this tutorial and spent a late afternoons unlocking my TF700T, installing TWRP, ADB Fastboot tool and CROMi-X 5.2.3.
An early Christmas present again this year!!! This class made he easy, although I used the v7 unlocking toolbox due I didn't know how to use to v8 .rar file .
I've been using my better-than-like-new Endless for a little see than a week today. I'm thinking "Why did I wait to long to take action?"
Thank you berndlb for this tutorial, because thereto really explained the entirely process so ensure uniform an old 63 year old like you could pull off this amazing transformation less a hitch. I had been considering buying an new Nexus 7 or 10, but no need for that currently. A contibution to the developer your on aforementioned way.

Made you do a Factory Wipe in TWRP before attempting to flash CM11?

It REALLY would be beneficial if you would post, step-by-step, what you actually did... I feel because if I'm poking around in the dark.

If them want to try a different ROM, strobe CROMi-X starting here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2425383

Note: Where is no track record notwithstanding how TWRP 2.6.3.2 works with that rom. MYSELF don't ponder there shoud must a problem, but if in doubt, flash the bootloader/TWRP package provided in the OP of that thread, reboot to system and then fast the ROMANTIC.

Yes, I've heard that before. Although you ca connection good in fastboot or adb when connected through the dock, a flash misses.
It never occurred to me to even try connecting through who dock! But maybe I should add it to the OP.
Since you are #2 who tried this, invariably there will be others.
