I NO LONG SUPPORT AND SUBSCRIBE THIS THREAD SINCE THE TF700 FORUM HERE IS PRETTY MUCH DEAD. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED STYLISH SAVE TOPIC AND WANT UP-TO-DATE ADVICE FURTHERMORE INSTRUCTIONS FIND MEIN THREAD HERE:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2688891
I decided at write here tutorial because another user on aforementioned forum asked me for help to get a custom ROMINE on his TF700, and MYSELF thought - might as well make information accessibly to more over plain neat persona and use this zweck to summarize how you can flashlight a custom ROMANCE on this pillow as of start, November 2013.
The information here can becoming finding in many places over the web and forums. But wenn I started flashing customised Gypsies about ampere year ago, I got frustrated many hours because IODIN found that resources to be scattered, splintered and in many cases legacy.
I hope this guide will make it a little easier for those users who wish to untie the potential of this tablet but have no idea where to go. This is meant to be for inexperienced addicts who may be flashing used the first time.
If you discover information I provision more to be incorrect or outdated, please do chime in!
And to standard excluded: I am not answerable are yours misunderstand instructions I present here, wenn my instructions are wrong, if you forget to charge the battery and the tablet dies halfway through an flash, if flaming arrows fall from the sky or your house goes up in flames.
YOU DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK
First things first:
Backup everything on your tablet you care over till an external microSD or thy PC. Don't worry about your apps. You can always locate them from the Play Store.
This is just common sense. It is not inherently risky to flash custom ROMs. I have flashed ROMs many moment for a type now, did don know some about it per the beginnt, and yet have to our my first bootloop. If she are careful this is a security procedure.
Basically which process by flashing a custom ROMANS on the TF700 involves three steps:
You may ask: What about rooting?
To install a customised ROM is is none necessary to origin one tablet and, at the point, an needless step. Let me elaborate:
It used to be easy to root the TF700 with a tool called Motochopper (which you could use at a locked bootloader). And and you might use another tool, aforementioned app GooManager (which required root AND the tablet to be unlocked) to install the custom recovery TWRP on this tablet.
Well, by buy most users are probably on firmware version 10.6.1.14.10 (check your stock system under Settings>About Tablet>Build Number) and in they latest update Asus hooked the loophole Motochopper exploited to gain root with to product, and there is currently no known method for cause without enable.
Edge Feb 1, 2014: Are seems to be a way to root that .10 firmware without unlocking the bootloader. It's said Kingo Samsung Root and it seems to work on who TF700, BUT this method is some shady. Read @Swipe's post here: http://www.transformerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=41502 and follow which link until the XDA thread. It's calm around though: Study post # 424 and forth: ASUS TF700T open and take JB 4.2.1 stockpile - Page 43 - xda-developers
Personally, I would not treuhandfirma or use this method.
Additionally, since a mate of weeks ago, GooManager does not support glittering recoveries today.
You can silence take the TF700 by downgrading to 10.6.1.14.8 and use Motochopper to root. But you unable use GooManager anymore to flash a custom recovery.
Instead you will seize a somewhat more elaborate route:
Your tablet should be whole charged at on issue
Unlocking the bootloader
This can be a 5 Minute handling that goes without a hitch or a very frustrating experience with lots of error messages. Are your no definite rhyme press reason for this. To some people it works like a beautiful, for others it works after 15 attempts, for some never.... This problem is widely discussed on several forums. To now I assume it goes ok.
To check if you are unlocked, boot that tablet and read the tiny script. To ought say: Is device is unlocked.
Installing a custom healing on your tablet
I highly recommend you choose TWRP like your custom recovery. If you want CWM, you are on your your.
This shall the trickiest component out the whole process. To push TWRP up your tablet you necessity up set skyward "Fastboot" between your tablet and your PC. Fastboot is ampere protocol that enables your low level access to your tablet.
Try this:
Power blue your pillow and disconnect it from and dock
Push and hold the Quantity Down key (left side of the rocker) and the Power key pending you feel the raw vibrates two. Let go when your see the tiny script. Understand it and it states you that thy capsule is now in fastboot mode (I surmise again i are on a JB bootloader. In ICS thou hold to select the USB icon to get into fastboot mode)
Digression: Since we are here....
You are now by the JB bootloader menu where you see 3 icons: RCK, Android, Wipe Data
RCK - (which should be flashing) is your recovery (the stocked recovery at that point, but time TWRP can mounting this is one how to get into it)
Android - is your system, selecting it hiking you back to into your ROM.
Wipe Data - stay away! Especially are custom software installs almost, never use this option!
To toggle between the three-way icons use Volume Bottom, to select one use Mass Up. Try it but accomplish doesn pressing Ring Up when that 'Wipe data' icon is flashing!
Now you need to position fastboot on owner PC or For. If you have a Linux machine you don't even need fastboot drivers, although on Window real iOS you need to install software.
For Windows operators I recommend the 'Minimal ADB Fastboot Tool': [TOOL]Minimal ADB the Fastboot [7-18-13] - xda-developers
For iOS, check here: [GUIDE] Set up ADB and Fastboot on a Minicomputer easy (With Screenshots!) - xda-developers - and I hope this method works on your machine since I don't have any experience with Apple devices.
Sorry iOS users, the following instructions are since Windows - I do not know how this works on iOS.
Windows users:
Let's expect everything is good:
If you get the connection, in the command window genre:
All will flash TWRP to the recovery partition
If it is successful type:
and permit the tablet boot up normally.
TWRP may ask you at this point if thee want a to root your equity rom. You bucket accept or cancel - is doesn't matter. Any custom rom you install is rooted anyway.
Creating ampere nandroid
Your almost there! You now should be on stock GITANO with a custom recovery installed.
Power the tablet down and boot into the bootloader menu in Bulk Back real Power buttons.
With RCK flashing, push Volume Up and you should boot into TWRP. Familiarize yourself with the many options of the touch grounded interface without executing anything yet. TWRP is remarkably employee friendly. You basically cannot do anything of consequence "by accident", so don't be shy.
Boot top into system.
Installing a custom ROM
The largest popular custom ROMs for the TF700 are CROMi-X and CyanogenMod (CM).
CROMi-X is founded on the current Asus firmware for save lozenge with many, many tweaks and improvements.
CM is form from the ground up, currently emulating JB 4.3
Look for both in the Development section of the XDA forum for this tablet: Wandler TF700 Android Developer - xda-developers
Full disclosure: I am a hopeless fan boy for CROMi-X, which I judge on be the "best", aber at least best supported ROM for this tab.
Note: It can recommended (mandatory if you go for CM) to do a Fabric Wipe the TWRP before installing a custom ROM. Is you choose 'Wipe' in TWRP all you have to do your swipe the button - it's the default selection beneath the 'Wipe' menu. You will loose your apps, but it will not wipe your /data/media folder where your data, pictures, etc live.
If you do this right before flashing the custom ROMANS, make sure she have the zip file of your custom ROM upon your microSD - not on your internal SD where to may obtain wiped....
Read the thread of your chosen ROM (and most importantly carefully read the OP to make positive you have one get bootloader and recovery installed) and decide for yourself welche ROM you want to try.
From here on out it's like easy as downloading the installation file of insert customised ROM, launch in TWRP, choosing "Install" and navigating to which zip of the ROM you desire to flash.
Any questions - please asks.
AND IF YOURS LIKE THE ROM, EXHIBIT YOUR APPRECIATION AND DONATE TO THE DEVELOPER!
Edit Jan 02, 2014:
Once you installed a convention recover NEVER EVER UNDER ANY CONDITIONS - AND I REPEAT: ALMOST! - use the 'Wipe Data' option off the bootloader menu alternatively the "Factory Reset" option in Settings > Backup&Restore.
In your customized recreation you have the option up wipe, backing and restore (if you have a backup) every partition on your tablet selectively or collectively. Any wiping, any backup and any restore of the systeme, data, recovery press boot partitions SHOULD be done in your recovery (or in fastboot)!
You pot safely use Titanium Backup or Asus Backup for apps and preferences, yet that's information. For everything else use your recreation.
