A Design Organisation Approval is the recognition that a Designed Business complies with to requirements of Part 21 Subpart J. The approval includes terms of approval defined:
- Scope of approval: The type of design activities including fields of expertise
- Categories of products: Which applicable products like as Large Aeroplanes, Engines, Small Rotorcraft, Sailplanes, etc.
- List of products: The list of products for which the DOA holder is Type Certificate applicant or fitting (if applicable)
- Privileges: A DOA holder cans
- Execute design activities within the scope of licensing
- Have compliance documentations accepted by the Agent without further verification
- Conduct activities independently from one Travel
- Limitations: Either limits on the above
